Songkran festival marks the celebration of the traditional Thai New Year. The first day of the three-day festical, April 13th, is the Maha songkran Day, or the New Year's Day .

People give and receive water blessings during Songkran After making merit by offering food and new robes to teh monks, the Thais would prepare flower garlands, incense, candles, and scented water for the bathing of the Buddha images. This is believed to bring blessings and good luck for the upcoming year. After this ritual, they will bring flowers and scented water to the elderly and the respected to ask for their blessings.

Today the festival is characterized by the fun of water throwing. This practice stems from the belief that the throwing of water will bring rain, and thus abundance and fertility to the land.

Since there will be no IDEAL Christmas party organized this year and instead, contribution of 500 Baht for each teacher will be given towards planning for smaller parties within their own departments. In addition to this, IDEAL will also contribute 500 Baht for each teacher for the 2^nd semester get-together celebration.

Managers please notify the Operations Department 1 week in advance when you wish to receive the above mentioned amount.

Sacred Heart Convent School will be having their annual Christmas event on Friday the 23^rd of December, 2011. IDEAL managers, teachers and members of staff are warmly invited and encouraged to join the celebrations.

List of documents required of New Teacher

The new teacher must submit the documents listed below on their first day. Upon completion of the process, the teacher’s documents will be returned:

·           Passport

·           Original university degree

·           Original university transcripts

·           Degree verification letter from university

·           Original TEFL certificate (if applicable)

·           Original English proficiency test results (for non-native English speakers only)

    TOEFL PBT=577, IELTS = 7.5 or TOEIC = 850

As per the updated notification received in regard to the school reopening dates, please be advised of the below changes:

The Annual Leave declared due to the flood situation has been canceled, and instead that will be treated as holidays due to flood.

Meanwhile, the matter related to Annual Leave during the Summer Vacation (March / May) will be discussed once the schools reopen.

We regret any inconvenience caused.

The flood is drawing closer and closer to us. It is a good idea for you to prepare for it. Here are the things that you should do before it hits.

1. Keep your eyes and your ears open. Frequently check the news, and don't be panic!
2. Prepare a bag that packed with your necessary stuffs. Just in case that you need to evacuate, you can just grab and go.
3. Make sure that you have supply of water, food, and medicine. Avoid salty food as it will cause you to drink more water.
4. Check your circuit breaker make sure that it is working normally.
5. Pack your stuffs into plastic containers (i.e. case or bags), and put them in a high ground. It is a good idea to put them together in a few large containers rather than many small ones.
6. If possible move all electronic sockets or switches up to at least 1.2m high. Obviously, if you are not living on a ground floor, this won't be necessary. (If you are on second floor and your second floor isn't high, it will worth thinking about it).
7. Check for any holes or gap that poisonous animals may enter from, and seal them.
8. Prepare to seal your bathroom and toilet. Water can get into your house or room through pipes.
9. Prepare containers for wastes, as your toilet will most likely unusable.
10. Study the best route that can get you out of there as quickly as possible in case of evacuation.
11. Make a plan and lists of things that need to be done.
12. Prepare batteries, flash lights, candles, matchsticks, and fully charge your cell phone.
13. Make sure that you did number 1 to 12!

Other important things you should know.

1. Don't drink tap water during the flood it will most likely very dirty.
2. If you can't buy any water right now, you will need to stock as much tap water as possible and boil them.
3. If the water stay for a long period of time, Any high building may collapse. So stay away from them.
4. This is very important! If the government tell you to evacuate, the please evacuate! Don't wait until to see the water. The water can come very fast and it will be very difficult to evacuate when you are surrounded.

Due to the flood situation, IDEAL has decided to distribute the salary earlier than the regular salary date. Therefore, all those who receive the salary through the UOB account, you may collect them on 27th October 2011.

And others who don't have UOB account you may collect your salary in the form of cash/cheque on the day when the Operations Office reopens.
